VETERAN’S AFFAIRS COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
MARCH 4, 2013
7:00 P.M.
Welling Conference Room
1. Call to Order: Chair Bernie Corona called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.
Roll Call:
Present: Bernie Corona, Timothy Siggia, Vincent Parys, Kirk Allison, J. Roger Pelletier
Excused: Paul Barry
Absent: Linda Carrasquillo, Mary-Ann Roczynski, David Whalen
2. Approval of Minutes:
February 4, 2013 – Upon a motion by Vinny seconded by Tim, the Commission voted to approve the minutes of the February 4, 2013 meeting. Motion carried.
3. Old Business:
- Bicentennial Square – Vinny got a response from the Fire Chief. He was happy to support the Commission but wanted further details on the exact intentions of the Commission as far as the memorial. They would like to see a drawing. The Mayor has been invited to attend a joint meeting of the Patriotic Commission and Veterans Commission for March to review the proposed changes/suggestions for the park.
4. New Business:
- Clerk gave Bernie Corona, Chair a resignation letter from Linda Carrasquillo who is stepping down from the Commission because she is moving out of state. The Commission now has a vacancy.
- Bernie passed a handout passed that covered VA Blue Button Program, VA eBenefits Portal, Vet Locator, VA Compensation and Pensions and awareness of a Computer Fix Scam that was going around.
5. Adjournment – Upon a motion by Vinny seconded by Tim, the Commission adjourned at 7:29 pm.
The next meeting will be April 1, 2013 in the Town Council Chamber.
